What’s with the name?

Yes, we really are The Salty Heifer! True story: it was named for Chef and her many “mood” faces.  Maybe that’s the Brooklyn in her…


What does THAT Salty Heifer do?

She does A LOT!

We subscribe to the “5 Ingredient Rule” when it comes to our desserts and cookies. Anything else, and it gets way too complicated. We do our best to use locally sourced and sustainable ingredients wherever possible. Besides, when you’re using the best, why cover it up with fillers?!


Are The Salty Heifer’s desserts nut-free?

Most of our products are nut-free, with the exception of a few gluten-free items that contain almond flour. Please note, our cookies, cupcakes and pies are baked in a kitchen where nut ingredients are used.


Can I modify or cancel my order?

All orders are final, so make sure everything looks correct at checkout and you should be smooth sailing! You can also leave specific instructions in the “Note” section when placing your order.


Will The Salty Heifer products arrive fresh?

Yes! We bake, pack and ship to order, ensuring everything arrives nice and fresh! Our cookies can even be frozen for a longer shelf-life.


How should I store my The Salty Heifer order?

Cookies: Freeze em’! (Freezer, not fridge). They stay fresh for up to 2 weeks. Take them out 20-30 minutes prior to serving. If you plan to eat them right away, just place them in airtight container, and they can stay on your counter. However, if you place them in your fridge, they will last up to one week. Please note, that our OG Salty Heifer contains pork fat and MUST be refrigerated.

Pro tip- Cookies and/or brownies and blondies are also pretty awesome straight out of the freezer and on ice cream! You’re welcome.


Cakes and Pies: Are best kept in an airtight cake container and stored in your fridge. All cakes have a stay fresh for up to one week. We’ve done all the testing for you.


Are there any new flavors coming out?

All. The. Time. We love creating new flavors. Starting in June, we will begin “The Cookie of the Month”. Each month, we will have a new cookie; seasonally, we have a collection of three new cookies, cakes, pies and cupcakes, and we always bake something special around holidays.


What if I want something special or a larger size?

Oh, we do that! If you want you want isn’t on our menu, or you need a larger size cake, pie, or an odd number, just shoot us an email, or call us (718)669-0708 during our operating hours, and we will do our best to make your sweet dreams come true.


Does The Salty Heifer bake gluten-free, egg-free, dairy-free, sugar-free or vegan products?

We have a few gluten free cake and cupcakes and macarons! But we aren’t currently offering egg/dairy/sugar-free products just yet. Hang in there, vegans.


How are your Gluten Free Cakes and Cupcakes baked?

Our Gluten-Free cakes and cupcakes are baked in a dedicated gluten free kitchen - that means no risk of cross-contamination during our baking process as the product never comes in contact with any gluten-containing ingredients! All of the ingredients we use are certified gluten free. You can send us an email and/or give us a call if you’d like to order!


Where are The Salty Heifer products baked?

All of our products are baked at one central commercial kitchen in the heart of Brooklyn – Brooklyn, we go hard!


Shipping and Delivery

General Shipping Information

  • All orders are shipped via USPS, UPS and/or FedEx or via messenger within Manhattan (below 59th Street) and Downtown Brooklyn (see below)
  • We ship cookies Monday-Friday. Only shipping options that provide same week delivery will be available; only messenger delivery is available Tuesday - Friday.
  • USPS, UPS and FedEx do not deliver to PO boxes
  • We do not ship internationally


Placing Your Order

We make every effort to package and ship orders as quickly as possible. The length of time it takes for us to ship your order can vary depending upon when the order is placed, i.e., the day and time you place your order, whether or not we are in a busy season, etc.

To ensure that you receive your order by the time you need it, you can place orders up to 25 days in advance. Simply let us know when you need it, by leaving a delivery date in the comments area of your order.

Please note, we cannot guarantee shipping or arrival dates. We strongly recommend that you schedule your order to arrive at least one business day before your desired date to allow for any unforeseen delays. Cookies can be frozen upon arrival to preserve freshness.

Also: due to their fragility, cakes and pies are shipped frozen in an insulated container. We do our best to ensure they arrive intact, however, we cannot be held responsible for how they are handled in transit. Cakes and pies arrive slightly thawed, and can remain in your refrigerator for up to seven days.

We do NOT ship cupcakes.


Shipping Options

We offer a variety of shipping options based upon delivery location. We try not to offer shipping options that would keep cookies in transit for more than two to three days; but our cookies do have a shelf life of more than a week when in airtight packaging.

Cakes and pies will be shipped Overnight Air and/or Express Ground ONLY, according to location. There are no exceptions.

We are only able to offer Ground Shipping to locations that would allow for delivery within 2 days, based upon USPS’s, UPS’s and/or FedEx’s estimated delivery timeline.


When Will My Order Arrive?

How Will I Know My Order Has Shipped?

We will send a confirmation with tracking information to the email address you provided with your order once the order has processed for shipment, generally the same day as shipment.

If you do not receive a confirmation email, please check your junk mail folder and add to your safe senders list.


Waiver of Signature

It is best if orders are shipped to an address where someone can sign for the delivery. It is at the sole discretion of UPS whether or not your package will be left without a signature. If signature is waived, The Salty Heifer, Co. cannot be held responsible if the package is lost, stolen or damaged.


Messenger Delivery within Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn

Messenger delivery is available as a shipping option subject to the following:

  • Available for Cookies ONLY
  • Available for MANHATTAN (Below 59th Street) and DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN ONLY
  • Available Tuesday – Friday only
  • Deliveries will only be made to a business or doorman building, without exception

Additional charges will apply for attempted delivery, messenger re-attempts and messenger telephone calls required to complete delivery
